Tech Auction

Know the answer. Risk your confidence. Build your fortune.

At a glance

Team

3 to 4 members

One Captain speaks for the team and locks in every answer.

Capital

₹1,000 virtual

Every team starts level. It is game money only, used to keep score.

Format

4 rounds · 15 questions

All teams play every question at the same time. About 45 minutes.

Goal

Highest balance

Knowing the answer is half the game. Sizing your bid is the other half.

How to play

  1. The question appears on the big screenIt is multiple choice with four options, and the timer starts immediately.
  2. Discuss quietly and pick one answerA, B, C or D. Keep your voices down: other tables are listening.
  3. Decide your bidAny whole amount from ₹50 up to your current balance. Sure of the answer? Bid big. Guessing? Bid small.
  4. Lock in before the timer endsThe Captain submits the answer, the bid and (optionally) one power card. Once locked, nothing can be changed.
  5. Be quick: speed bonusA correct answer locked in on your phone also earns a speed bonus of up to ₹50. It shrinks steadily as the timer runs down, so two teams with the same answer and bid are separated by who locked in first. A wrong answer earns nothing extra.
  6. The answer is revealedRight answer: you win your bid. Wrong answer: you lose it. The host explains the answer in one line.
  7. Watch the leaderboardStandings are shown after every round. It can change completely until the final question.
Worked example. You hold ₹1,000 and bid ₹200. Correct takes you to ₹1,200. Wrong drops you to ₹800. In the Risk Round the same correct answer pays double: ₹1,400.

Round 2

Tech Battle

How AI works: language models, neural networks, evaluation metrics and data bias.

Right +bid · Wrong −bid
Round 3

Risk Round

The hard ones: neuron arithmetic, training, transformers and probability. A correct answer pays twice your bid; a wrong one still costs only the bid.

Right +2× bid · Wrong −bid
Round 4

All In

One decisive question. You hear the category first, then bet anything up to your whole balance.

Right +bid · Wrong −bid

Power cards

Every team has three cards. Each can be used once in the whole event, one card per question, and it must be declared when you lock in, before the answer is revealed.

Double

Twice the reward

A correct answer pays double. In the Risk Round that becomes four times your bid. No effect if you are wrong.

Shield

Half the damage

A wrong answer costs only 50% of your bid. No effect if you are right.

Steal

Raid a rival

Answer correctly and ₹100 moves from a rival you named to you. Name the target when you lock in. A team can be targeted at most twice.

Revival

Nobody is out

Hit ₹0 and you receive ₹100 once, automatically, so you can keep playing to the end.

Bidding on your phone

  1. Open the team pageOn the Captain's phone, go to (also shown on the big screen).
  2. Choose your team and enter your PINYou receive your Team ID (T01, T02…) and a 4-digit PIN at registration. One device per team.
  3. Tap your answer and set your bidUse − and +, or the Min, 25%, Half and All in shortcuts. The page shows what you gain if right and lose if wrong.
  4. Add a power card if you want oneUsed cards are struck out. For STEAL, pick the rival team from the list.
  5. Press Lock inConfirm once and you are done. Your balance and rank update on the same page after every reveal.
The phone is your answer slip and nothing else. If the organisers announce paper slips instead, write Team ID, question number, answer, bid and power card on the slip and place it face-down before the timer ends.

Rules

  1. Teams have 3 or 4 registered members. No substitutions once the event begins.
  2. Both the answer and the bid must be locked in before the timer ends. A missing answer or bid counts as a wrong answer at the minimum bid.
  3. Once locked in, neither the answer nor the bid can be changed.
  4. A bid above your balance is reduced to your balance. It is not a disqualification.
  5. Each power card may be used once, and must be declared before the reveal.
  6. Searching the internet, messaging, smart watches and any outside help are prohibited. A team caught forfeits all winnings from that round.
  7. Do not show or tell another team your answer or bid before the reveal.
  8. Raise any dispute with the Dispute Marshal within two minutes of the question being scored, not at the end.
  9. The organisers' decision on scoring and disputes is final.

Winning and tie-breaks

For organisers

  1. Before the eventSign in at the admin panel, open the Host Console → Teams: add every team (or paste the list) and save. Print the PIN list and hand each Captain their Team ID and PIN at registration. Review the bank under Questions.
  2. Set up the roomOpen the Big Screen page on the projector laptop and press F for full screen. Keep the Host Console on a separate laptop that is never projected: it shows the answers.
  3. WelcomeShow Lobby while teams log in, then Rules while the host explains the game and the power cards.
  4. Run each questionOne big button walks you through it: show the question and start the timer → lock bids → reveal and score → next question. The round intro appears automatically when a round changes.
  5. Paper slips or a dead phoneType the answer, bid and card for any team straight into the slip table. Press Enter to jump to the next team.
  6. Fixing a mistakeCorrect the slip in the table, even for an earlier question, and every balance recalculates. “Undo reveal” takes a question back.
  7. Between rounds and at the endShow the Leaderboard after each round. After Round 4 show Final, run sudden death if the console flags a tie, then download the results CSV from Settings. Once a question is scored, only the super admin can change its slips. The Review answers tab shows every team against every scored question, with wrong answers in red. For a dispute, the super admin clicks that cell (or presses “Rule correct” beside the team on the Run game tab); if the answer key itself was wrong, fix the correct option in the Questions tab and every team is rescored.
